Experience and Other Skills Required

Level I:


-At least one year of work experience involving grant/research administration, combined with experience with legal terminology, reviewing detailed legal documents, and language relevant to post-award administration, and/or accounting related experience to include tracking and reconciling accounts.


Level II:


-At least three years of work experience involving grant/research administration, combined with experience with legal terminology, reviewing detailed legal documents, and language relevant to post-award administration, and/or accounting related experience to include tracking and reconciling accounts.


Level III:


-At least five years of work experience involving grant/research administration, combined with experience with legal terminology, reviewing detailed legal documents, and language relevant to post-award administration, and/or accounting related experience to include tracking and reconciling accounts.


-Outstanding communication, customer service and problem solving skills, with the ability to serve diverse customer groups, and to thrive in a rapidly evolving environment with flexibility, persistence and tact.


-Strong analytical skills.

Description of Job Duties

Level I:


- Assists PIs and departments in monitoring their sponsored project budgets and award terms.


- Reviews requisition requests for sponsored project related purchases.


- Reviews sponsored project-related travel requests and related documentation.


- Reviews proposed sponsored project-related expenditures for equipment, supplies and inventory.


- Assists departments, PI and/or GCFS in sponsored project progress reporting and close-out processes as needed.


- Reviews cost sharing and determines that all cost sharing forms are complete.


- Assists PIs in meeting all deadlines and all sponsor requirements.


- Performs other duties as assigned.


Level II:


- May be responsible for duties of post-award RAA I, plus: Monitors projects of diverse scope where analysis of data requires an understanding of complex regulations.


- Periodically reviews department Pro-Card and sponsored project reconciliation.


- Works with PIs and departments in Time & Effort certification processes.


- Works with departments and PIs to prepare cost transfer, budget transfer and cost sharing requests as needed.


- Completes and approves transactions for RSC Director's signature or other authorized institutional official.


- Guides less experienced staff or works as a team leader as Director needs.


- May review and guide others in the review of financial and administrative award administration requirements to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor policies.


- May act as a technical specialist in a particular area, such as travel and entertainment.


- Independently ensures award management is in accordance with campus policies and agency requirements.


- Performs other duties as assigned.


Level III:


- May be responsible for duties of post-award RAA I and II, plus: Acts as technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure.


- Manages sponsored projects that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy.


- Uses advanced contracts and grants concepts to manage a high volume of projects and sub-awards, many involving significant complexity.


- Reviews and guides others in the review of financial and administrative management requirements of proposal submission to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor policies.


- Serves as a lead in working with the Senior. Research Award Coordinator and the RSC Director to resolve pressing concerns to meet submission deadlines.


- Typically works highly complex proposals that may involve multiple Principle Investigators (PIs), complex task budgets with option years and/or multiple sub awards.


- Assists PIs in managing their sponsored program portfolios.


-Maintains a good understanding of FAR contract clauses.


- Performs other duties as assigned.

Note 2: Based on management's assessment of applicant qualifications, position will be filled at level I, II, or III. The position starting salary is flexible depending on the qualification. Other duties assigned will include pre-award tasks such as proposal review, proposal submission and budget development as RSC workload dictates.
